Tucked away in Seattle’s Mt. Baker neighborhood, this project turns a private backyard into a quiet, layered retreat. The design leans into the old-world charm of the original home, pulling that timeless character out into the landscape. Instead of a traditional lawn, a lush, steppable groundcover creates a soft green floor that weaves between natural stone and warm wood accents. Weathered Corten steel adds a modern yet earthy edge to the palette, while a curated selection of shade plants brings texture and depth to the space. It’s a small-scale sanctuary that proves you don’t need a huge footprint to create a high-impact, natural escape.
